Welcome to the Beacon Leisure Management web site. We hope you find it informative and easy to navigate.
Beacon Leisure was formed in 2000 by its 2 directors
Richard Iles and Paul Etheridge. Richard and Paul have between them
over 40 years of experience in the leisure industry in both the
private and public sectors. They have a successful track record in
the delivery of cost effective quality leisure provision
predominantly in dual use and community based facilities.
In 2001 Beacon Leisure secured it first contract to manage the
Downton Leisure Centre on behalf of the Brian Whitehead Sports
Centre Association which is supported by Salisbury District Council.
The Leisure Centre comprises 2 indoor tennis courts, a 40 station
gym, a 4 badminton court main hall, an activity room and one sunbed.
The contract was initially awarded on an 8 year term with an option
to extend for a further 3 years subject to Beacon’s satisfactory
performance both in terms of delivering a sustainable business and
meeting the aspirations of the client. Every indication suggests
that the contract will be extended.
The focus of Beacon’s leisure contracting work is in dual use and
community based facilities areas in which Paul and Richard have
particular expertise. The Company is keen to secure additional
contracts in these areas either as direct operators or in a
background consultancy role.
In 2002, Beacon Leisure introduced its event programme. Using the
experience of Richard and his wife Joanne as international
competitors in the Triathlon, and Paul as an experienced runner,
Beacon established a programme of Duathlon, Triathlon and Running
events. Most of the events take place in the heart of the New Forest
using forest roads and tracks. The aim is to attract competitors
from across the spectrum from the novice to internationals. The
events are going from strength to strength with increasing number of
entries year on year.
